Named after a pass
ROA was founded in 2015 in Italy by technical footwear designer Maurizio Quaglia together with the team behind the Milanese store Slam Jam. The name comes from the Forcella della Roa, a pass in the Dolomites, which also inspired the logo.
ROA wurde 2015 in Italien vom Designer für technische Schuhe Maurizio Quaglia gegründet, zusammen mit dem Team hinter dem Mailänder Laden Slam Jam. Der Name kommt von der Forcella della Roa, einem Pass in den Dolomiten, der auch das Logo inspiriert hat.
ROA a été fondé en 2015 en Italie par le designer de chaussures techniques Maurizio Quaglia, avec l'équipe derrière la boutique milanaise Slam Jam. Le nom vient de la Forcella della Roa, un col des Dolomites, qui a aussi inspiré le logo.
ROAは2015年、テクニカルフットウェアのデザイナー、マウリツィオ・クアリアが、ミラノのショップSlam Jamのチームとともにイタリアで創業した。名前はドロミテの峠Forcella della Roaから。ロゴもこの峠に着想を得ている。

Sportswear for the mountains
The brand describes its approach as a hybrid attitude towards the landscape. It takes the thinking of sportswear and running shoes and applies it to mountain footwear, with performance materials and experimental construction.
The result looks technical without looking like standard hiking gear. That is why ROA is stocked by fashion retailers such as END. and Mytheresa.
Die Marke beschreibt ihren Ansatz als hybride Haltung gegenüber der Landschaft. Sie übernimmt das Denken von Sportbekleidung und Laufschuhen und wendet es auf Bergschuhe an, mit Hochleistungsmaterialien und experimentellen Konstruktionen.
Das Ergebnis sieht technisch aus, ohne wie normale Wanderausrüstung auszusehen. Darum führen Modehändler wie END. und Mytheresa ROA.
La marque décrit son approche comme une attitude hybride face au paysage. Elle reprend la logique du sportswear et des chaussures de running pour l'appliquer à la chaussure de montagne, avec des matériaux performants et des constructions expérimentales.
Le résultat a l'air technique sans ressembler à du matériel de randonnée classique. C'est pourquoi ROA est vendu chez des enseignes de mode comme END. et Mytheresa.

Footwear is still the core, from the Andreas boot built for the Dolomites to the light Kuna Trail. Over the years ROA has added clothing, caps and bags, as well as collaborations, most recently with Wrangler.
